How to Set Up a Crypto Wallet at Coinbase

Coinbase Account Wallet (is Simple & Beginner-Friendly)

This is the default wallet you get when you open a Coinbase account. Coinbase holds your crypto for you, like a bank.

  • Go to coinbase.com

  • Click “Get Started” and create an account

    • Enter your name, email, and strong password

    • Verify your email address

    • Complete identity verification (KYC) with your ID

  • Secure your account

    • Enable 2-step verification (2FA) with your phone

  • Add a payment method

    • Link a bank account, debit card, or PayPal (varies by country)

  • Buy crypto

    • Once set up, go to “Buy/Sell” to purchase crypto like Bitcoin or Ethereum

  • Your crypto is stored in your Coinbase wallet

    • You can see your holdings on your dashboard

    • Coinbase holds the private keys (you don’t manage them)

  • You can send crypto to others
